Can I start out part-time?

Sure. About half of us do that. Others go full time because their business needs that, they want to, or they need to because they've been laid off.

Still, if you can possibly do it, you are encouraged to make the commitment to full-time. The biggest danger to home based business is the discipline to actually work it. If you try part-time, there will always be the excuse, "I'm too tired tonight." There will be other things you want to do with your free time. The business gets put on a lower priority, and all too frequently given up. So if you really believe in your business, go for it!

If you must go part-time, you'll need to carve out a specific time frame that is your home business time. Be dedicated to it.

You'll also need to be well organized. There are two types of people, filers and pilers. If you are naturally a filer, great! You are probably already organized enough. If you are naturally a piler, you'll need a system that works the way your mind does. Standard organization systems usually don't work for us (yes, I'm a piler). I very highly recommend the Piler System
